1.How do I know if the fire I want to purchase is going to fit my fireplace?

Its important that Gas fires are installed by properly qualified Gas Safe registered engineers. Most engineers will offer you a free of charge survey prior to fitting. This will determine the type of chimney/flue in existence and whether or not alterations or building work are required beforehand to get your chosen fire to fit. Remember: Not all gas fires will fit all types of flueing systems.

2.How can I contact a qualified engineer?

Look in your local Yellow Pages under “Gas Installers” or ring Gas Safe Register customer services on 0800 408 5500. Their website is www.gassaferegister.co.uk

3.I don’t have a chimney or flue in my house, can I still have a gas fire?

Certainly. We have many gas fires on this site that do not require a conventional chimney or flue. Look out for the gas fires that use balanced flues, fan flues and also flueless fires.

4. What if my gas fire develops a fault?

Some manufacturers offer a minimum 12 months warranty covering parts, some even longer. This means that should your new fire develop a manufacturing defect within a year of purchase then one of their appointed engineers will call to replace the faulty component free of charge (Please note some manufacturers don't offer a warranty on labour costs). – Providing of course that the fire has been fitted by a qualified installer in accordance with all prevailing rules and regulations. Some Manufacturers won't offer warranties on products purchased on the internet. Please contact the relevant manufacturer to advise you.

5. I have seen a fire/fireplace that I like that doesn’t appear on your website. Can you obtain it for me?

Yes, almost certainly. In a nutshell, there isn’t much on the market that we cannot supply – and all at competitive prices too.

6.What types of flues and chimneys are there?

There are many different types of chimney and flue systems in existence, however generally speaking you are likely to have one of the following.

· Class 1 Traditional chimney

· Class 2 Prefabricated flue or lined chimney · Pre-cast flue The above classifications can be further sub-divided which is why it is important to call on the services of a qualified gas installer who can advise further. Because gas safety regulations and building regulations are continually evolving it may be that your present flue system is now out dated and illegal for the type of fire you wish to have. Don’t be caught out! Get it properly surveyed. For more information on flues please see the User Guide..

7.How is my new fire delivered?

We use a number of reputable carriers to supply nationwide. We would ask that you physically inspect the goods upon receipt and report any damages within 48 hours of delivery. No claims for damages will be considered after this time period. Your rights under the manufacturers warranty remain unaffected.

8. I don’t have enough depth in my chimney/flue to accommodate the fire I would like to purchase – any suggestions?

Some of the fires can be supplied with a spacer (at an additional cost), which when fitted behind the fires trim will allow the fire to sit further forward on the hearth, meaning less of the fires rear box is situated inside the fireplace opening. Alternatively if alterations to the flues opening depth is not viable, then consider a fire surround with a deep rebate in it. Please contact us for further details.
